Want to read a real teacher’s blog? Then enjoy this new one, A Dixie Diary, at http://www.adixiediary.com. The positive response from people across America has been astonishing.

Actually published a few days ago in the midst of the Munroe business, this unique teacher’s journal shows a different look at what happens in the schoolhouse by a rookie teacher who loves his work and his students, but he expresses his thoughts and observations in a hugely different way than Mrs. Munroe.

Sure, there are some intense moments, even some choice words, too, but mostly it’s world-class hilarious, heartwarming … deeply articulate ... like reading a good book.

A Dixie Diary is the teacher’s blog we’ve been waiting for. It’s simply mesmerizing.

Moody Gardens is so much fun. I won tickets for four last year or the year before. My daughters had been there before with a school function, but we went as a family and we had so much fun. There were a few attractions we could not visit due to the previous hurricane, but we had a great time.

Not only did Joel show character, he displayed good sportsmanship and outstanding morals. I understand female athletes need to compete in male dominated sports & events but the fact is, wrestling shouldn't have put Joel in a position where he felt he needed to choose between his faith and his drive to excel at his sport of choice. If women want to wrestle then create a female league. Joel sent the right message to the boys who will follow him; it's never acceptable to lay your hands on a girl, even if it is for sports entertainment. His parents are raising a good kid. Now if only professional athletes could take a page out of Joels' book...

It's good to know that Joel Northrup behaved as any respectable MAN would by forfeiting the match rather than wrestle a girl. It's too bad that those who gave the accomplished wrestler the ultimatum to either wrestle a girl or forfeit the match--didn't. It appears that this may have been the female wrestler's only way of winning--but she didn't win, the match was given to her. The winner is still Joe Northrup in more ways than one.

Kudos to Joel Northrup. Your decision not to wrestle is commendable. In today's society, domestic violence plays a horrible role. In this case, I boys tournaments should be for boys especially if there is a conflict of morals.

I agree. Privacy would have been the best bet in this matter but I have also worked with people who went out of their way to create accounts that were completely anonymous in order to be able to vent and rant about their jobs and were always very careful not to mention names of co-workers or the company they worked for in any of their blogs/posts.

Even in those cases, I still believe it is ill advised at best to use a public format to vent.

I'm a fan of free speech, however, and believe that unless you are making only the minimum effort to hide the identities of co-workers in your blog (calling someone "Job Bohnson" instead of their real name "Bob Johnson") or not bothering to hide the name of your company, you should be allowed to speak your mind.

I think the focus of companies to make certain there is no bad press from their employees on the Internet has been taken to an extreme as of late. In some cases where individuals have been terminated by their company for a blog or post, they have done the equivalent of complaining in a bar about their job or their boss. And often, as in the case of Natalie Munroe, by trying to shut her down, they've actually created more publicity for her blog than if they'd handled it quietly in house.

She had 9 followers when she was suspended. Her blog now has 485 followers and I imagine that number will increase over the coming days.

The school has now created in her a sympathetic "martyr" which will mean a substantial amount of bad press for them should they determine the best course is to terminate her.

Ranting would be one thing. I rant about my bad days quite often; the whole "sick n' tired of being sick n' tired", but bad mouthing students and there actions directly is way different. I have worked in a school and they watched the internet VERY closely. As does both of my current employer. And if they saw me bad mouthing a co-worker (by name or not) or anyone/thing else directly pertaining to my job I would get my termination papers immediatly. I completely understand blogging as a sort of a diary, venting is better than bottleing it all up till you explode and go postal on everyone, however setup a private one. Not able to be viewed be ANYONE except those you allow. Facebook, Myspace, and most other sites have privacy settings to allow you to make it to were only those you approve can view your posts. I am surprised the school she is employed by has not adopted a policy on this though. Many schools these days have. I know All of Victoria, and most surrounding towns have.

Allison - It's always been risky when it comes to posting anything about where you work and I know from personal experience that a lot of employers make a point to check out potential hires through the methods you mention. I'm certain there's been times when my "stories" or jokes that I post through Twitter and Facebook have been looked upon in a bad light.

I make a point not to post any negativity and save rants for my closest friends thus avoiding any potential problems but I think there is a large percentage of the population that looks at blogs as some form of diary and that if only their closest friends are reading them, no harm no foul.

I agree that she was in the wrong but at most, without rules in place to cover what she did, I don't think the school should terminate her.

Crazy! But so many employers watch the internet these says. I know that before hired some of my employers checked out my Myspace, Facebook, and Googled me! But you represent that company 24/7. So posting bad pic's or fowl language is a BIG NO-NO...much less talking bad about your employer/co-workers...and in her case underlings/students. She was ignorant to think that was ok, rules or not.

I worked in retail pharmacy for 3 years. You could change to an independent pharmacy if you are able to pick up the medicine before 6pm on a weekday. Or you could give the retail drugstore your phone number. Most of the computer systems can call or text you when your script is ready, so you know when to head up there. As for pharmacy staff not doing their job, I find that extremely hard to believe. I have helped fill over 400 perscriptions in one day and still had an hour or two worth of work to do after 10pm when we "closed". Between CFOs trying to save a buck in manpower and the number of scripts Victorians need to fill, they are busy all the time. I have never met a tech that makes a client wait out of meanness.

I work in the pharmacy industry and I would highly recommend using an independent pharmacy instead of one of the chain pharmacies! Wal-Mart, HEB, Walgreens, CVS....their wait times are totally ridiculous! I promise if you go to an independently owned pharmacy you will not have those problems or wait times!

INSPECTIONS - Well Rob - I have to agree with you about the nit picky things. The older I am, I find myself inspecting my car before I take it. I have a friend that actually inspects cars and he lets me know if anything really needs to be done. He inspects commercial vehicles for his job, but is really helpful to me. So if I have to take my car in, I'm going to know if they are really trying to cheat me out of a few bucks or if they are an honest and reputable place.
