Chick-fil-A Younglife Event Saturday

The third annual Chick-Fil-A YoungLife 5K, 10K and Kids Fun Run event will be Saturday at Chick-Fil-A, 6104 N. Navarro St. This event is open to runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels.

The race begins at 7:30 a.m. in the parking lot next to Chick-Fil-A, says the Victoria Advocate. The race route is a fast, flat 3.1-mile loop. Participants will head north on Navarro Street and loop around to John Stockbauer Drive and Salem Road and continue back to Navarro, finishing in the parking lot where they started. The 10K runners will complete two loops.

The "Running of the Calves" Kids Fun Run for children ages 12 years and under will take place in the parking lot next to Chick-Fil-A immediately after the finish of the 5K and 10K races.

Participants can register online at cfayounglife5k.com. Race packet pickup will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Victoria Mall.

Last year's event raised more than $34,000 with nearly 500 participants. All proceeds stay in this area and benefit YoungLife Victoria. YoungLife is a nonprofit youth outreach ministry that seeks to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and to help them grow in their faith.
