Science: Drummers’ Brains Are Actually Different

Being a drummer, I've heard all of the jokes. I've also been told at times that my brain wasn't "quite right." Well, according to a scientific study, it's apparently true...but in a good way. I've always tried to be a problem-solver, and this study shows that trait is part and parcel with being able to lay a solid groove "in the pocket." But, hey...don't take my word for it; read the article and see why I have just gotten a nice, big shot of self-esteem.

Brad Paisley’s Hilarious Selfie With WBC Whackos

You've gotta hand it to Brad Paisley. He can find the humor in just about any situation. It seems the Westboro "Baptist" Church folks (you know, those loving folks who protest at fallen military personnel's funerals, among other things) decided to protest one of Brad's concerts recently. Brad took a hilarious selfie that you've just got to see!

Rent-A-Gent

I can't stay up late enough these days to watch Nightline on ABC. Well, to be honest, I never watched it very often when I could stay up that late. But I saw this story online, and it looked interesting. Not because I fancy myself the type of guy they're looking for (besides, I signed a "non-compete" with my wife, Sweetie), but because I'm always fascinated by stories with a different "twist" on the way things have been done before. So, when I saw this story about a company that hires out "gentlemen" to ladies for two hours at a time (with no hanky-panky involved), I thought it was blog-worthy.

Meet Cuero’s Grumpiest Citizen

A recent letter to the Editor of the Victoria Advocate illustrates the fact that just because someone is a dog-lover, that love doesn't always extend to others, especially children. Mr. Matthew Hough of Cuero felt the need to express his disdain for the local kids who ask if they can pet his dog when Mr. Hough takes the pooch for a walk in the local park. What follows is an example of grumpiness rarely found on public display.

A 31-Year-Old High School Sophomore?

From the "What in the World?" File:

Dateline: Longview, TX. Students and faculty at the New Life Christian School in Longview apparently aren't good judges of a person's age. Nor was the woman who took in the "sophomore" that claimed she had been abused, and her biological parents were both dead.

You see, the "sophomore" is a 31-year-old woman named Charity Anne Johnson.

Video: Cat Saves Boy From Dog Attack

We've all read or heard stories about dogs doing such heroic acts as warning their family of a fire or other danger in the house, or finding people buried alive in some disaster. There are even quiet, everyday canine heroes who assist those with physical or other disabilities, such as visual impairment, or post traumatic stress disorder. Well, this time, the hero was a feline, who fended off an attack on a 4-year-old boy by a neighborhood dog in Bakersfield, CA.

Study: Naps ARE Good For You!

Here in South Texas, the concept of the siesta is not unfamiliar. Most of us know how brief, refreshing "power nap" (if one has the ability to take one) can give you that little "re-charge" of our internal batteries to get through the remainder of a tough work day.

Now, researchers at California State University Berkeley have proof that napping is not only good for you, it's natural for human beings to want to take siestas!
