The National Weather Service forecasts a crest of 29.9 feet on the Guadalupe River to arrive in Victoria on Thursday afternoon. Emergency officials ordered a voluntary evacuation for residents of the Greens Addition effective Tuesday afternoon at 5pm.
A disaster declaration was issued for Victoria County today in anticipation of the imminent flood threat.
The river level will rise quickly and then drop slowly through the weekend. At 29.9 feet, water could enter the lowest homes in Greens Addition, and could inundate the streets in the Old Town area and the East Basin area.
