The City of Victoria Fire Department is now accepting applications for its Civilian Fire Academy Class #9 and community members will have an opportunity to learn all about the Victoria Fire Department. The Academy is offered free to participants.

A 'Hunter Education Course' will be offered at the Hochheim Prairie Insurance Building, 500 South U.S. Highway 77A in Yoakum, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. Sponsored by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Students must attend the entire session and pass an examination for certification.The cost of the course is $15.

Join MCB on Thursday, September 17 at 5:30pm for "What is a Texas Confederate Flag?", a lecture & discussion by Dr. Robert J. Maberry. Dr. Maberry is a pioneer in the field of vexillology (the scholarly study of flags) and an authority on historic Texas flags and symbols.

Victoria College has opened a make-up session for new freshmen who plan to take credit classes this fall and were unable to attend previous Pirate Orientation sessions. The make-up session will take place from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21 at VC’s Main Campus.
