The Victoria Generals of the Texas Collegiate League have announced the addition of catcher Andrew Stumph from Texas State University to the current roster.  Stumph, a native of Katy, Texas, just completed his junior year at Texas State where he hit .253 on the season.  He added 10 doubles, three home runs, 28 RBIs, and 19 runs scored as the Bobcats everyday catcher.

The Generals were left with a void to fill at the catching position after signee M.P. Cokinos from St. Mary’s University was drafted and signed with the Houston Astros.  Stumph is no stranger to the TCL, having played for the Texas Tomcats back in 2010.

The signing of Stumph will allow Eric Weiss, who has handled the bulk of the catching duty for the Generals this season, to slide back to his normal position in the outfield.  Stumph and Blue Hybner will now be expected to share the catching responsibilities.

The Generals return home Friday night to host the Acadiana Cane Cutters at 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium.  Friday night is also Faith and Family Night presented by Klean Corp International.  There will be a pregame concert by Christian rock band Table 4 Twelve starting at 5:00pm.  Guest speakers will include Eric Weiss and former Generals head coach Ryan Wagner.

Fans can buy tickets and team merchandise at the Generals team store located at 3708 North Navarro, Suite A in the Landmark Shopping Center, online at www.VictoriaGenerals.com, or by calling 361-485-9522.
