During high-profile bike races like the Tour de France, there are often official cars driving fairly close to the riders, raising the specter of an accident.

But the collision that took place during the Tour Monday, between a car carrying members of a French television crew and riders Juan Antonio Flecha and Johnny Hoogerland, didn’t quite look like an accident.

Instead, the video appears to show the car turning into the two bikers for no particularly good reason.

Flecha and Hoogerland, who were among the breakaway group at the time of the crash, ended up knocked into a barbed wire fence.

Despite being bruised and bloodied, both men were able to get back on their bikes and finish the stage.  Read on to see the video, which has Flecha’s cycling team considering legal action.
