In Calhoun County you have several options when it comes to celebrating the 4th of July.

In Port Lavaca, a reading of the Declaration of Independence at 10 a.m. on July 4th at Faye Bauer Sterling Park. The Victoria Advocate says the reading will be done by Ed Campbell, of Port Lavaca, a descendant of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. The event is free and open to the public.

In Port O'Connor, fireworks will be at dusk July 7 at King Fisher Front Beach Park. The event is free and open to the public.

In Point Comfort, activities start at 6 p.m. July 7 in the Point Comfort City Park. The pool will be free and open to the public. Fireworks will start at 9 p.m. or as soon as it gets dark. Concessions will be sold.
