Brandy Clark is readying the release of her major label debut album, and she's exclusively premiering a performance of its lead single with Taste of Country.

Clark has long been one of Nashville's best-kept secrets; as a songwriter, she's penned tracks including Reba McEntire's "The Day She Got Divorced," the Band Perry's "Better Dig Two," Miranda Lambert's "Mama's Broken Heart" and Kacey Musgraves' CMA Award-winning "Follow Your Arrow." She released her debut album, 12 Stories, in 2013 via Slate Creek Records, garnering a Grammy nomination in the all-genre category of Best New Artist at the 2015 Grammy Awards.

She's set to release her sophomore effort, Big Day in a Small Town, in June via a new deal with Warner Bros., and if "Girl Next Door" is any indication, the album continues her winning streak of sharp, darkly comic songwriting that centers around flawed characters and everyday situations that listeners can identify with. Clark worked with Nashville super-producer Jay Joyce — whose credits include Eric Church, Little Big Town, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban — on the new album, which features somewhat more polished arrangements than 12 Stories while still retaining the unique qualities that Clark's fans expect.

She collaborated with Jessie Jo Dillon and Shane McAnally for "Girl Next Door," in which the protagonist gives her man a no-nonsense ultimatum: "If you want the girl next door / Some Virgin Mary metaphor / Your cardboard cutout on the wall, your paper or your Barbie doll / Perfect hair and perfect dress / I’m really just the perfect mess / And I ain’t nothing less or nothing more / So baby if you want the girl next door / Go next door and go right now / And don’t look back, don’t turn around / And don’t call me when you get board / Yeah if you want the girl next door then go next door.”

The studio version of the song features a nifty, radio-friendly production, but in the exclusive clip above, Clark delivers a stripped-down, raw rendition of "Girl Next Door" that places the emphasis squarely on her songcraft, guitar playing and vocal performance.

Big Day in a Small Town is set for release on June 10. It is currently available for pre-order.
