Blake Shelton Rips Houston Music Critic for Dissing ‘The Voice’ Singer Holly Tucker
Blake Shelton was sad to see Holly Tucker eliminated on 'The Voice' on Tuesday (June 4), but he became furious after reading a tweet from a Texas music critic that the 'Boys 'Round Here' singer perceived as a slight to his team member.
Danielle Bradbery is from Cypress, Texas, which is 30 minutes from Houston. Tucker is from Waco -- three hours from Houston.
"It's people like you @joeyguerra that make me sick... Holly is not only a talented singer but a great person that's simply chasing a dream," Shelton tweeted. Several other profanity-laced tweets followed, before the country singer apologized to his followers for his messages. "I am passionate about encouraging young people to follow their dreams," he clarified.
In his summary of the episode, Guerra writes that "it took much too long" for Tucker to be sent home, but the two previous recaps had been mostly positive toward the 19-year-old. If a simple geographical reference to his Houston-based readers was the writer's intent, that was lost on Shelton. Bradbery is one of two remaining Team Blake members, along with the Swon Brothers, whom Guerra has been even tougher on than Tucker.
Amber Carrington, Sasha Allen and Michelle Chamuel also remain in 'The Voice' competition in front of next Monday's episode on NBC.
