The 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards co-hosting gig goes to Blake Shelton and... Luke Bryan!

Shelton will be returning for his third stint as the co-host of the ACMs, but the award show's longstanding host, Reba McEntire, has resigned from her position on the red carpet event's stage. Thankfully, it'd be hard to think of a better replacement than Bryan to take her place at the 48th Annual ACMs, booked at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas for Sunday, April 7.

Shelton and Bryan are both as famous for their senses of humor as they are for their country songs, so anyone who tunes in will certainly be entertained by their antics. As we write this, they are probably already plotting ways to get laughs out of people at one another's expense.

While we already know how well Shelton fares as host, Bryan isn't exactly a wildcard choice. He did a pretty bang-up job as the red carpet correspondent at the CMAs for 'The Ellen Show.' Just this past November, Shelton planted a big ol' kiss on him during their interview, so that should give us an idea of what we're in for.

As for 'The Voice' coach, he did express displeasure at McEntire's decision to retire as host, saying, “I hate it — I really do. But, you know, she’s busy. She’s got her sitcom going now, and I get it. So, those are big shoes to fill."

Can Bryan fill them with the same sort of grace, class and poise as Reba? Definitely not -- he'd probably tell you that himself. But he'll fill 'em with jokes, a good sense of humor and that terrific smile of his.

The show will broadcast at 8PM ET/delayed PT on your local CBS affiliate.
