Port O'Connor will celebrate Labor Day with its first free Beach Bash from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m Aug. 31 on King Fisher Beach. With tunes titled "Beachfront Town," "Sailing on Sunday" and "After Labor Day," Larry Joe Taylor will perform music appropriate for the gig. Bill Pekar and the Rainey Brothers and another undetermined band will also provide afternoon entertainment, reports the Victoria Advocate.

The fare will include a Cajun-style shrimp boil prepared by local shrimpers and bait dealers, among other options.

The event sponsor, the Port O'Connor Chamber of Commerce, will sell T-shirts, soft drinks, water and beer. Other vendors will offer coastal treasures, furniture and other gifts. Proceeds will benefit the King Fisher Beach Improvement Project, which will pay for a new pavilion.

Larry Joe Taylor's performance is sponsored by Russell Cain Real Estate and Port O'Connor Rentals.
