Are you the next Victoria idol? It's as simple as that. If you think you have what it takes to be the best at karaoke then head on out to Shooters on Thursday nights.

The Victoria Livestock show is almost here and part of the livestock show is a karaoke event which happens at Shooters on Thursday nights till the livestock show begins. The Jaycees are giving you a chance to win some money and all you have to do is sing. Registration is from 7:15 to 7:50 and the event begins at 8p.m. It's totally free, you just have to show up.

Jaycee member Rachel Witte who is in charge of this event at Shooters gathered some judges from the area and they judge you on your singing ability, stage presence, and audience participation.

Basically you should know what your singing, don't be looking at the screen the whole time for words. That also falls under the category of stage presence, dance around, have fun singing your favorite song, but know the words to your song.

Also, get the audience involved. Choose a song that will get the audience interested in that song, don't choose a boring love song. It's at a bar, mostly everyone is drinking and when you mix alcohol in with love songs, some people tend to reflect on a past relationship then we drink more and become obnoxious. We have all been there.

It's always a good time at karaoke, especially with Peggy who owns all the equipment. She gets the crowd going every time it happens and she's the best. So are you the next Victoria Idol? Come to Shooters tonight and find out. It will be taking place once again on the 15th, 17th, and the finals at the Beer Garden February 27th at the Community Center for the Victoria Livestock Show.

It's so much fun to watch people sing different songs, you mix in a little alcohol, different genres of music, fun people and that, my friends, is a party.
