April is 'Child Abuse Prevention Month' and KIXS 108 wants you to know there is nothing more important than the safety and wellbeing of our children.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) will host a Cookie Kick-off to recognize April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. According to the Victoria Advocate, the event will be held from 4-5 p.m. Monday at the Hiller House, 3003 N. Vine St. It will feature cookies and milk for those in attendance and a balloon release. Victoria Mayor Will Armstrong will read a proclamation declaring April Child Abuse Prevention Month in Victoria. Also expected to take part are Victoria County District Attorney Steven Tyler, CASA supervisor and Victoria city councilwoman Denise Rangel and Maria Flores of the Harbor Advocacy Center.

CASA trains volunteers who are appointed by the courts to speak up for the best interests of child abuse victims.
