A Surprise Retirement Party
My parents retired this year and it just makes me realize I'm getting older. I now have to make sure my home is clean due to them stopping in without notice. I'm kidding, they would call. They would have to, they live in Ohio. My sister and I thought it would be a great idea to throw them a surprise retirement party.
I took off a week of work and drove to Ohio and my sister came from Baltimore. It was a long 21 hour drive but it was more than worth it. My sister decided it would be best to have the party at the church we attended as kids and we even had some old friends helping with the meal and everything. My sister did the work as she sent out invitations, and made sure everything went according to plan.
On Saturday May 19th my sister and I sat on the steps inside the church and our mom and dad walked through the door. The look on my mom's face was priceless. Of course as a mother she immediately thought something was wrong due to the both of us being there. I don't blame her. It was an amazing day and it sure felt nice to do something for two people that have done more than enough for my sister and I.
