Victoria College's Core Curriculum: Introductory Craft Skills class will be from 6-10 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, July 22-Aug 14, in the College Services & Training Building, Room 104A.

This class is mandatory for anyone wanting to register for an industrial class in the fall. It is the last one offered before then. Basic reading and math skills are required to attend the class.

"The course is a prerequisite for students who plan to enroll in Level 1 training in electrical, HVAC, millwright, pipefitting or welding," Sherri Pall, Victoria College Workforce & Continuing Education director, told the Victoria Advocate.

Core curriculum is common to all National Center for Construction and Research training and is required for NCCER Certification for all Level 1 courses. No prior experience is necessary. This course provides an introduction to basic safety, construction math, hand tools, power tools, blueprints, basic rigging, communication skills and basic employability skills. All course materials are included. Following successful completion of the class, an NCCER certification and a certificate of completion for 32 contact hours will be awarded.
